Pancakes with the President
A couple weeks ago, as our residential students prepared for final exams and the end of the semester loomed, there was—an unexpected—brief reprieve from the stress of it all: pancakes. A simple batter flipped onto a hot griddle, stacked high with a large selection of toppings, helped our students relax and briefly take their minds off the week ahead. In that momentary pause, I enjoyed visiting with our students and talking to them about their exciting summer plans. One student I spoke with shared his plans for his landscaping and lawn mowing business, he had already lined up four trucks and had yards signed on for the season. The company, and the pancakes, too, made for fun, happy conversation.
Singed fingertips aside, I am grateful to have spent some time with our on-campus students at the end of the semester. With the help of our exceptional Creative Dining Services team, we were able to leave the stress of finals at the door and enjoy each other’s company as we talked about the bright summer months ahead.
I look forward to the next opportunity to sit down with our students, and to hearing all about their summer adventures. This year, we have an extraordinarily high number of student interns around the country and around the globe gaining valuable experiences in internship positions. I wish them all great experiences in their internships in the coming months; we have much to discuss when they return!
Have a great weekend,
