In 2014, Northwood University joined with the Midland Center for the Arts to renovate and share space in the Herbert D. Doan Midland County Historical Center, owned by the Midland Center for the Arts. This partnership created an outstanding fit by connecting the past with the future. Last fall, formal agreements were made to once again launch this historical building into a new phase of the future in a new way. Midland Tomorrow Innovation Center (MTIC), Midland’s new business incubator, has moved in the Doan building with Northwood University and the Midland Historical Society. This fortuitous move will strengthen the link of our community’s storied past to the most exciting and creative ideas of the future.
MTIC’s directive to attract new people and business ideas is the perfect fit with Northwood’s entrepreneurial students. Not only will we share space, we share in the spirit of creating new and exciting businesses for our region. It is exciting to be a member of such a collaborative and innovative community. Furthermore, Midland Information Technology Consortium (MITCON), a startup from within the MTIC, will provide the information technology infrastructure for our shared space in the Doan building.
Northwood is excited to share space and resources with new and innovative ideas and the MTIC, which nurtures and brings those ideas to life. We look forward to the many opportunities to collaborate and exchange ideas.
Have a great weekend,
