Harnessing the Power of the Entrepreneurial Mindset
This week was all about entrepreneurship. Anyone who spends a little time at Northwood knows that this word isn’t restricted to being a description of those who own businesses, it’s much more than that. Our students are all entrepreneurial in their own ways, and share the desire to become business leaders who lead beyond the boardroom—and in communities all over the world. Business is dynamic, and it requires critical thinking, personal effectiveness, and an emphasis on responsibility. That’s the entrepreneurial mindset, and that’s what the Northwood Idea fosters in our students.
If you attended an event this past Global Entrepreneurship Week, you heard from some of our alumni entrepreneurs and faculty members. The week kicked off with the “Entrepreneurship, Economics and Public Policy” panel which featured Northwood’s own professor Jim Hop. We also heard from alumnus Cliff Dice of Dice Corporation, and recent graduates Jacob Spence and Ben Marsh from Heirloom Coffee. Jacob and Ben also kicked off the 9th Annual Bauervic Pitch Competition. You can watch the awarding of the “big check” from that by clicking here. We also welcomed Jeff Day, CEO of Bluewater Technologies, and ethics pioneer Dr. David Bazetta last night.
It has been a busy week of celebrating the mindset that differentiates our Northwood University students, and I am proud of all we have accomplished. Keep it up, entrepreneurs!
Have a great weekend,
