Finding Success in Failure
The Omiquest book selection this semester is a fascinating read about unlikely circumstances, seemingly inevitable failure, and ultimately success. These things may not seem like they’re at all related, but in Irrational Persistence: Seven Secrets That Turned a Bankrupt Startup Into A $231,000,000 Business, these themes and more are present. When he founded Garden Fresh Gourmet, Dave Zilko knew little about business and what his plans were. As you know, however, he applied what we here at Northwood like to call the entrepreneurial mindset, and he ended up selling his infamous brand for a massive profit. It’s that creativity and passion we look for in our students, and paired with the business expertise they learn at Northwood- our students are poised for success.
Dave now serves as the founder and CEO of FUEL, and presented our university with the challenge earlier this fall to join his Fuel U: Daily Fuel email newsletter initiative. If you haven’t yet signed up, please visit www.dailyfuel.com/northwood and enter your email. Our campus has the opportunity to receive up to $50,000 for collecting 100,000 email addresses, and we are looking forward to seeing what our Fuel Student Ambassadors come up with to help us reach our goal.
Have a great weekend,
