Young business minds converged upon campus this week for one of our keystone programs: Learn About Business (LAB) Free-Enterprise Camp. From as far away as California, 65 students traveled to participate in this challenging experiential learning environment. This week they have interacted with Northwood faculty, lived in the residence halls, and made daily use of the student recreational and athletic facilities. LAB Free-Enterprise camp is an award-winning program for business-minded high school sophomores and juniors who want to jumpstart their future success. This year, LAB students used a cutting-edge computer-based simulation designed specifically for LAB Camp by GoVenture CEO to design an automobile and build an automotive manufacturing corporation.
Later this afternoon, the student team with the best profit and loss record will be announced as the winner of this challenging simulation. In addition, students prepared a number of business presentations for Northwood faculty, and received valuable insights from successful real-world entrepreneurs who took time out of their business schedules to share their secrets to business success. This experience would not be possible without the generous support of the Jeannette C. McIntyre and Frederick (Lash) McIntyre Charitable Foundation Trust.
The LAB Free-Enterprise Camp is designed to develop the next generation of entrepreneurial-minded business leaders through this hands-on, real-world program. It serves as a learning opportunity and also introduces a new generation of leaders to the Northwood IDEA. We look forward to celebrating their accomplishments this week, and hope to welcome them back in the future as Northwood students.
Have a great weekend!
