“Endless terror. Refugee waves. An unfixable global economy. Surprising election results. What if they were all connected? What if you could understand why?” Northwood University students and faculty are exploring the answers to these questions by reading the new book, “The Seventh Sense: Power, Fortune, and Survival in the Age of Networks,” by Joshua Cooper Ramo. The Seventh Sense examines the historic force now shaking our world--and explains how our leaders, our businesses, and each of us can master it.
The book is this semester’s Omniquest selection, our university-wide program in which a provocative and challenging book is selected each semester. The theme of the book is adopted for discussion and analysis within all programs simultaneously.
We chose The Seventh Sense because it chronicles the forces that are invisible to most of us but explain everything from explosive technological change to uneasy political ripples.
It’s a perfect topic for Northwood as we instill in our learners the principles of entrepreneurialism and the global, diverse nature of enterprise.
The Omniquest program dates back more than 25 years when we first suggested the opportunity to read Peter Drucker’s book, “The New Realities.” Since then, we have built on the past by expanding our thinking and challenging our students to dig deeper as they explore new and greater ideals.
Anyone interested in a quality list of good reads can go to our Omniquest website and see every selection since 1990. You’re sure to find something there you like.
Have a great weekend!
