August Is Defined by Intensity and Activity

Intensity and activity are words that best describe these final weeks of summer and the mad dash to August 29. Still more than three weeks from the start of the academic year, yet the energy here is palpable. Faculty and staff are putting the final touches on their preparations for fall. Our student athletes are arriving to begin conditioning. Residence hall directors have begun their welcome activities, knowing the importance of making students feel at home on campus.

All of this activity is the culmination of a summer absolutely bustling with activity. As usual, we hosted thousands of students for camps, programs and special events. Many of these cater to students who are getting their first taste of NU and the Northwood Idea. We roll out the red carpet for all of our visitors, making sure they experience the character and values that differentiate us from other higher ed options.

Even with hundreds of guests on campus, construction and renovation projects never slowed down. Bulldozers and backhoes, noise, detours and a few unsightly holes kept us on our toes as we navigated around these important projects.

These inconveniences will be worth it when, over the next few weeks and months, the benefits will shine through in facility and infrastructure upgrades that will benefit us for years to come.

This is an exciting time at Northwood and we are grateful for a fantastic summer. Thank you to everyone involved in the many activities that have occurred here and will still happen before classes begin. Our campus-wide rush to the new academic year would not be possible without you.

Have a great weekend!
