Honoring Our Fallen Heroes

American flags will wave proudly over Northwood’s campus this weekend as we spend Memorial Day remembering the lives of our family members, friends, and strangers who have sacrificed everything to protect our individual freedoms. Many traits we associate with our fallen soldiers are inspiration for the ideals Northwood prioritizes most—responsibility, integrity, and bravery are just a few of them. Those honored on this special holiday have blazed a trail for our scholars, exhibiting what it means to take pride in our work and relentlessly pursue our goals.

Aside from honoring those who have lost their lives for the sake of our country, Northwood also strives to deliver a suitable learning environment for those who are currently active in the U.S. military. Our college is classified as a Certified Veteran-Friendly School. We are one of 57 schools that received a ranking for demonstrated commitment and support of veteran students and their dependents seeking to pursue a higher education.

As of 2015, Northwood University had nearly 500 military, veteran and family members enrolled in our programs and had graduated more than 2,200 military-connected students over the years.

We are pleased to offer support and provide tools that assist all students in achieving educational success through programs designed specifically for them.

As we reflect on and honor our fallen soldiers, let us also consider the qualities that molded these individuals into American heroes, and think about how to better integrate their character traits into our own lives.

Have a safe and enjoyable Memorial Day weekend!
