At Northwood, we’re big on partnerships. Fifty-seven years ago, together, Dr. Arthur Turner and Dr. Gary Stauffer opened the doors to the first 100 Northwood students, envisioning a new concept in education, the kind of environment where new opportunities and hard work could help develop the world’s future leaders. This spring, we are proud to announce another strategic educational partnership with Frankenmuth Mutual Insurance, the Tuscola Intermediate School District, Frankenmuth School District, and Insuring MI Future. This innovative team effort allows us to offer insurance risk management classes to 20 high school students from Tuscola County and Frankenmuth High Schools. In Northwood’s Insurance Risk Management program, students will earn college credit toward their degree completion at Northwood while still in high school, and will take an important first step toward developing careers in the insurance industry.
Our talented faculty know one of the best ways to do business is through a partnership and are always on the lookout for unique ways to deliver the quality educational programs our students need to succeed. Thanks to the insight and leadership of Dr. Diana Webb, associate professor and department chair of the Insurance Risk Management program, this focused opportunity for high school students gives young students a head start on a college education and valuable career. And, with the insurance industry expecting 40% of its ranks to retire over the next 10 years, the program helps fill a serious talent shortage in the insurance profession.
Our Insurance Risk Management program kicks off on April 5, 2016 with a news conference at 10:00 a.m. followed by a 5:30-7:00 p.m. open house for interested students and parents at Frankenmuth Insurance. This expanded visibility of our business programs should be great for our University.
Enjoy your weekend!
