Our Sacred Responsibility to Veterans

It’s been said that supporting our nation’s military veterans and their families is a sacred responsibility. At Northwood University, we wholeheartedly agree. We believe one way to demonstrate our commitment to that responsibility is by making sure our programs and services match our reverence for military veterans’ service. Northwood University currently has 500 military, veteran and family members enrolled in our programs and we have had more than 2,200 veteran students over the years. One of our signature programs, “8 Keys to Veteran’s Success,” highlights strategies for helping veterans and military personnel transition into higher education, complete their degrees and become more career-ready. Northwood also offers tuition discounts for veterans and their families who are pursuing undergraduate degrees from our Adult Degree Program.

It was humbling recently to be ranked one of the best colleges for veterans by Military Times. The recognition fittingly came in November, which is Military Appreciation month, and within days of honoring our service men and women on Veteran’s Day.

The 600 colleges under consideration for the honor were ranked on several factors: veteran and military student services, academic achievement, accommodations, academic outcomes, financial incentives and veteran culture on campus, among other things. In addition to being ranked as a “Best for Vets” college, Northwood was recognized as a Military Friendly School for the fourth consecutive year.

On behalf of our faculty, staff and students at Northwood University, we thank all veterans for their service to our country. Because of their sacrifices, dedication and risks, we prosper in a global, free-enterprise society. It is our honor to serve you.

And our sincerest condolences go to the family of Cassidy Christie. After a 10-month battle with a rare childhood cancer, Cassidy, younger daughter of our HR Director Pam (Pete) Christie, passed away the morning of November 11, 2015. Cassidy will be remembered for her love of friends and family, and for her generous spirit.  Visitation and funeral arrangements can be found at . Please keep the family in your thoughts.

Have a good weekend.
