Beginning on Monday, September 14, Northwood University will host our second annual Freedom Week on campus when we share the Northwood Idea with our student attendees. In addition to presentations from several of our colleagues, Freedom Week will feature speakers on such topics as American exceptionalism, capitalism, natural law, the "invisible hand", and others that directly relate to the ideas we embrace in our Northwood Idea. The Freedom Week sessions are open to all who would like to attend, and you can find further information on locations, topics and times at http://www.northwood.edu/fw/ . Our celebration of Freedom Week comes at a particularly difficult time in our country’s history as we remember today the events that unfolded 14 years ago when we came under attack from a group opposed to our American ideals. To honor all those who lost their lives in the initial attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, and to honor and thank those who so valiantly fought to rescue and recover the many who were immediately impacted, September 11 was designated as Patriots Day. Today, we remember the people and events, but we also take pride in our ability to recover from the assault on our country and to continue to embrace the ideals that make us the leader in free-enterprise, free markets and a truly global economy.
Take time today to remember those whose lives were lost on September 11, 2001, but also remember to be proud of our beliefs and ideals that will further be incorporated in our Freedom Week activities next week.
Enjoy your weekend.
