This past weekend we welcomed the class of 2019 to the Northwood Wolf Pack. Some of our words of wisdom involved starting strong. One way we do that is by encouraging students to get involved in some of the many activities we offer. Because as it says in our Student Life Handbook – sports, Greek life, clubs and extracurricular activities are “where memories are made; where life-long friends are met; and where your college experience begins!” This is true not just for our new students but for upperclassmen, as well. Student success is about getting engaged. This is where the Northwood Idea comes to life for our learners. We like to say that learning is not something one person does to another, but instead it’s something two people do together. Together, we make active, experience-based learning a reality for our students as we help them become well-rounded individuals who are well-prepared for entrepreneurial leadership.
Our faculty, alumni, supporters and friends are instrumental in this process. By mentoring students, offering internships and co-op jobs, advising clubs and professional organizations, and hiring our graduates, they become an extension of the NU Idea.
Each new academic year is brimming with promise and dreams. Those who start strong generally end that way. And that’s exciting to us as educators. To all of those who are helping our students launch successfully into the new year, we thank you. If you would like to know more about getting involved, contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Enjoy the holiday weekend.
