We had exciting news this week with the announcement that we are embarking on a major system-wide restructuring initiative, “Moving Northwood Forward.” This effort involves our West Palm Beach campus becoming Keiser University’s first residential campus and transitioning Northwood University to a single-campus model at our Midland location. The announcement also came with exciting news involving program and campus expansion in Midland. These steps will allow us to continue to strive for excellence in all that we do as we progress to be the premier business university based on free-enterprise. While our administration and staff were busy with the Moving Northwood Forward announcement, a student-initiated team of finance majors was busy knocking the socks off of judges at the Association for Growth (ACG) Cup competition in Grand Rapids. The Northwood team of Brendan Fox, Joseph Stefanski and Tommy Wyza were the winning undergraduate team in the event, vying against 18 other undergraduate teams representing six universities.
The ACG Cup is a nationwide case study competition where students present a case to judges who act as the "board of directors" or "private equity group." Comments from the competition included "one of the best presentations we have seen in seven years" and "likely better than most graduate level presentations". Thanks to Professor Jennifer Luzar and alumni coach and advisor Alex Drost for their help preparing the team, and to Brendan, Joseph and Tommy for making us exceptionally proud. On a somber note, today we mourn the loss of Dan O’Connor. Dan was the Manager of the Business Office at Northwood University – West Palm Beach for almost 4 years. He passed away suddenly on the evening of March 18th. Please keep Dan’s family in your thoughts and prayers.
Enjoy your weekend and the start of spring.
