There’s something about automobiles that gets us excited here at Northwood University. So excited, in fact, that we can feel the energy of Detroit’s North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) all the way to Midland, 128 miles north of Cobo Hall, site of the NAIAS. Could it be the sleek new cars, the stunning luxury vehicles, the insights from auto industry executives or the hundreds of thousands of people who attend for a peek at their dream vehicle?
Maybe. But more likely, our enthusiasm comes from our kinship with the Detroit show. Our own Northwood International Auto Shows are inspired by the spectacular Detroit event. That experience and every other one like it offers a chance to demonstrate again the value and importance of the automotive industry and the role it plays in enabling our economy, our business pursuits and our own personal independence and freedom.
This is especially relevant here at Northwood because of our strong focus on entrepreneurism and on educating the next generation of auto industry leaders. Our Automotive Marketing & Management graduates are in high demand since they understand what it takes to keep the wheels of the automotive industry spinning. It’s very likely that hundreds of those Northwood alumni and students are in Detroit this week for the show.
If you have an opportunity, I encourage you to check out the Detroit Auto Show and then plan to attend the 2015 Northwood University International Auto Show on our Michigan campus in October. You will find it is time well spent.
On an unrelated note, we joined the rest of the U.S. this week in celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. His passion continues to inspire us today and we proudly uphold his dream of racial equality.
Have a nice weekend.
