Veterans, We Salute You

We at Northwood University joined the rest of the nation this past Tuesday, Veteran’s Day, in honoring and recognizing the men and women who have defended our freedoms. When U.S. President Dwight Eisenhower first declared Veteran’s Day a national holiday 70 years ago, he invited us to “solemnly remember the sacrifices of all those who fought so valiantly … to preserve our heritage of freedom.”

Northwood takes these words to heart each day as we seek to uphold our responsibility to celebrate and honor every soldier, past and present, living or deceased, for service in the military.

Our commitment to U.S. military service members and veterans began when we first opened our doors in 1959. Since that time, we have graduated more than 2,200 military students and have proudly served men and women in all active duty, reservist and National Guard branches, along with veterans and military spouses and dependents.

Our desire in the 1970s to enhance our military-friendly education system led us to pursue strategic relationships to develop that student population. And in the 1980s, we branched out to offer programs on-site at military installations. We also offer tuition discounts to veterans at all of our campuses through participation in the Post-9/11 GI Bill and the Yellow Ribbon program.

Northwood University has been designated a 2015 Military Friendly® School by Victory Media, the leader in successfully connecting the military and civilian worlds, and is the premier, trusted resource for post-military success. Military Friendly® provides service members transparent, data-driven ratings about post-military education and career opportunities.

At Northwood, we strive to ensure our programs and services reflect our deep-seeded respect for veterans, active duty military and their families. As we reflect on their service to our nation this week, we offer our heartfelt gratitude and ongoing support as they work to achieve their educational goals.

Have a good weekend.
