The arrival of spring signifies many things at Northwood University including our annual Style Show on our Michigan campus. “Runway to Rhythm,” the 13th Style Show, takes place next week on Friday, April 4 at 8:00 p.m. This year’s Show celebrates music’s impact—from Kanye West to Taylor Swift—on fashion, particularly on “moods, milestones and moments in time.”
As with all of Northwood University’s experiential learning opportunities in Florida, Michigan, and Texas, the annual Style Show is a perfect example of our unique value proposition in the world of higher education. An estimated 120 volunteers, including 60 runway models and those in technical and support positions, put their time, energy, and talent to work under the leadership and guidance of the Style Show’s 18-member executive board.
Among the exciting features of this year’s Show is the special guest appearance of “America’s Next Top Model” Naima Mora. A native of Detroit, Michigan, Mora will discuss the importance of mastering the business management side of the fashion industry, as well as the multitude of career choices for Northwood graduates entering this industry. This special event will take place at 10 a.m. in the Helen Gerace Auditorium in the Bennett Sports Center on our Michigan campus.
As is also tradition, our Admissions Department in Michigan is hosting its annual Fashion Day on April 4 starting at noon. If you know of any high school juniors and/or seniors who would like to attend, please let our Admissions team know or have them visit www.northwood.edu/admissions to reserve their spot. This is a great opportunity for prospective students to learn more about Northwood University firsthand and to see industry and Style Show leaders at work behind-the-scenes—including a visit with special guest Naima Mora.
Finally, in the spirit of our system wide Founders’ Day and Values Emphasis celebrations over the past week-and-a-half, we wish the students, faculty, and staff of our Florida campus a happy birthday. This month marks the 30th anniversary of the start of classes on our West Palm Beach campus.
Have a great weekend.
