It’s the holiday season, and it’s time for everyone to reflect upon the wonderful year we have shared and look forward to what lies ahead! I am proud of the accomplishments of our Northwood family this past year, and in the spirit of the season want to name just a few of those special moments. This year our campus and the surrounding Midland community experienced a near-record flood, but that didn’t stop all of you from coming together, and our institution never missed a day of operations. Many staff and faculty were displaced but took the inconvenience in stride, and I am grateful for everyone who chipped in as we recovered.
Seemingly at the perfect time, we opened North Village Apartments this year. This facility is a state-of-the-art apartment complex and our students are loving it! In addition, we have made changes to our food service and will continue to improve so that our students have the optimal living and learning environment.
I am grateful for all of the student accomplishments of the past year- truly, there are too many to name. With the support of our faculty, our student groups and teams have been representing Northwood University all over the country, and I am proud of all we have done.
And finally, the Northwood University family has made a big difference right here in our community. This year’s Go M.A.D. Day of Service was bigger and better than ever, and puts us on an exciting trajectory for the future. As our students learn the values of giving back now, we look forward to seeing the impact each of them will have in their future communities. That mindset is fostered here, and that is a powerful tool for them.
With gratitude and pride, I look back on this past year, and with hope and excitement I look forward to 2018. Thanks to everyone who contributes to the Northwood Idea both on campus in their everyday lives, you are truly the heart of our great university!
Have a very Merry Christmas, and I look forward to seeing everyone in January!
