Six Future Northwood University Students Receive the Betsy and Dick DeVos Scholarship for Free Enterprise and Entrepreneurship

Six future Northwood University students were recently selected to receive the 2015 Betsy and Dick DeVos Scholarship for Free Enterprise and Entrepreneurship. Each of the scholarship recipients submitted an essay relating to their entrepreneurial experience and presented to a panel of judges consisting of Northwood University faculty, staff, trustees and alumni. They include:

  • Andrew Ager - Owosso, Michigan
  • Blake Berry – Utica, Michigan
  • Eric Ferguson – Tawas City, Michigan
  • Fox Parton – North Branch, Michigan
  • Kennedy Shea – Beaverton, Michigan
  • Tyler Walker – Galesburg, Michigan

Now in its fifth year, the Betsy and Dick DeVos Scholars for Free Enterprise and Entrepreneurship Scholarships are renewed annually for each student's four years at Northwood, as long as their academic standards are met. Applicants must submit an essay that demonstrates entrepreneurial activity and describe how their project fits with entrepreneurship, free enterprise and the meaning of the American Dream.

Finalists are invited to campus to present to a panel of judges consisting of Northwood University faculty, staff, trustees and alumni.  The panel’s recommendation for awardees is sent to Northwood University’s president and to Betsy and Dick DeVos for final approval.
