Northwood University recently received a contribution from the Consumers Energy Foundation to be used in support of its newly constructed campus gateway entrance which was dedicated this past September. The Consumers gift will be recognized along with other gateway donors in a special area located near the entrance. “We are pleased to support Northwood University in its work to provide the best quality education to mid-Michigan residents,” said David Mengebier, president of the Consumers Energy Foundation. “Consumers Energy is committed to meeting Michigan’s energy needs and to building for the state’s future by supporting our state’s educational work at all levels, from pre-school to higher education.”

The Consumers Energy Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Consumers Energy.  It provides funding for a variety of areas including education, community, civic and cultural development, social services, the environment and emerging issues. Consumers Energy, its employees, retirees and foundation provided more than $8 million in support to Michigan nonprofit organizations last year. Northwood University President Keith A. Pretty remarked, “The commitment by Consumers Energy to support our new campus entrance is greatly appreciated and serves as just another example of how the Foundation continues to make a difference in many communities throughout Michigan.”
